QUESTION: Why do we need bees?

Not only do we love to eat the yummy honey that bees make, but they also perform a very important service to flowering plants.

The flowers need to be pollinated in order to make new seeds. This happens when pollen from one blossom is transfered to another blossom and the bees help do this. When a bee lands on a flower to drink the nectar, she also gathers some of the flower's powdery pollen into little sacs on her legs to take back to the hive. Some of the pollen sticks to her body and when she flys to the next flower it drops off.

Farmers depend on our bees to grow many of their crops and orchards.
